## **How Tideway defied the odds**

Before construction began on the Thames Tideway Tunnel — London's "Super Sewer" — Tideway's leadership estimated what a "good" infrastructure project of its scale, statistically, could experience: at least two fatalities and over 200 incidents resulting in life-limiting occupational diseases. They set out to deliver a substantially better outcome, and built EPIC (now known as the ATT London Safety Leadership Centre): a mandatory, immersive, one-day induction with Active Training Team.

As part of a wider health, safety and wellbeing programme, every one of Tideway's 25,000+ workers went through the EPIC induction: from the Chief Executive to the operatives on the ground to the back-office staff.

**More than ten years and over 42 million hours worked later, Tideway recorded zero fatalities and zero life-changing injuries.**
